Front Axle Support Assembly Systems –
Heavy-duty assembly solutions for high-mix tractor production.
FATA Automation Limited was contracted to design, manufacture, install, and commission two mirror-image front axle support assembly systems for a leading agricultural equipment manufacturer. Designed to handle a wide range of axle configurations—each weighing up to 900 kg—these systems support the demanding requirements of a high-output tractor assembly plant in Basildon.
Axle casings are delivered via an overhead system and positioned onto a FATA turnover unit, where they are securely clamped using dual hydraulic clamps. Operators then fasten the axle casing to the axle.
A motorised shuttle car retrieves the assembled unit and returns to the load point, where it is transferred to the main tractor chassis assembly line. The shuttle features adaptive support points and powered jacking units to accommodate the full range of axle variants.
Key system features include:
- Two fully independent, mirror-image assembly lines
- Custom turnover units with hydraulic clamping
- Automated shuttle cars with variant-specific support and lift
- Independent control panels and PLCs
- Full perimeter guarding with 2m close-mesh fencing
- Operator protection via light curtains and floor sensors
This project highlights FATA Automation Limited’s ability to deliver custom, heavy-duty assembly systems tailored to complex product variants—while ensuring operator safety, production flexibility, and system reliability.
