Bringing New Life to Complex Mechanical Systems
Expert Refurbishment & Ongoing Support – British Library Paternosters
FATA Automation transforms aging infrastructure into reliable, high-performance systems. At the British Library in London, we completed a comprehensive refurbishment of six Paternoster elevators—critical components of the Library’s Mechanical Book Handling System (MBHS), which spans up to 10 floors and lifts materials over 46 metres.
In service since 1997 without major overhaul, these complex systems required a tailored solution that avoided disruptive on-site rebuilds. FATA engineered and built brand-new drive and tension assemblies off-site, then expertly installed them in phases—ensuring smooth operation and minimal downtime.
This project showcases our ability to breathe new life into technically demanding equipment while maintaining operational continuity. And our job doesn’t stop there—FATA continues to provide on-site maintenance to keep these systems running at their best.
